Parched Hubballi: Residents Take to Streets After 11 Days Without Water
Hubballi residents in ward number 48 and 50 took to the streets today to protest severe water scarcity in their areas. Frustrated by the lack of water supply for the past 11 days, residents blocked the busy road connecting Vanivilas Circle to Hosur Cross near the court complex for over 30 minutes.
The protestors raised slogans against the Hubli-Dharwad Municipal Corporation (HDMC) and the water board, accusing them of mismanagement in the water supply cycle. The blocked road caused significant traffic disruption in the area.
This incident highlights the ongoing water woes faced by residents in Hubballi. The city, along with its twin city Dharwad, has a history of water scarcity, particularly during the summer months. Dwindling water levels in reservoirs and a growing population often strain the existing water supply infrastructure.
The specific reasons for the water shortage in ward number 48 and 50 are unclear at this point. It is possible that localized distribution network issues or problems with borewells in the area could be contributing factors.
